Ghana appoints Rafatu Inusah as chef de mission for 2027 Youth Commonwealth Games

The Ghana Olympic Committee has appointed Ghana Rugby Football Union president Rafatu Inusah as Team Ghana's chef de mission for the 2027 Youth Commonwealth Games in Malta and Gozo.

Inusah described the appointment as a "humbling" honour and said she was grateful to the GOC for entrusting her with the role.

"I am truly humbled and honoured to be appointed as Chef de Mission for the 2027 Youth Commonwealth Games in Malta. A heartfelt thank you to the Ghana Olympic Committee for this incredible privilege and honour," she said.

She added that she looked forward to serving "with dedication, supporting our young athletes, and proudly representing Ghana on this important international stage."

The eighth edition of the Youth Commonwealth Games will take place from 29 October to 4 November 2027 in Malta and Gozo, bringing together around 1,200 athletes aged between 14 and 18 from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories.

The GOC said Inusah's appointment forms part of its commitment to women's empowerment and increasing the representation of female leaders in sports governance.

A member of the GOC board, Inusah serves on the committee's Games and Technical Committee and Women in Sports Commission.

She is the first woman to lead the Ghana Rugby Football Union and previously served as secretary general of the Ghana Triathlon Federation. She is also a member of Rugby Africa's Women's Advisory Committee.

In a further boost to her credentials, Inusah has been selected for the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program (ICECP) in the United States, a programme organised by the University of Delaware in partnership with Olympic Solidarity.
