2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Jan Gyamerah and Ronald Donkor earn first Ghana call-ups for Ivory Coast and Gambia games

Jan Gyamerah and Ronald Donkor have received their first senior Ghana call-ups after being named in Carlos Queiroz's squad for this month's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d'Ivoire and The Gambia.

The pair are the only new faces in the Black Stars squad, which will also take on Morocco in an international friendly next month.

Right-back Gyamerah has impressed for German second-tier side SV Elversberg this season, making four appearances in the 2026-27 campaign.

The 31-year-old brings experience from spells with Kaiserslautern, Nürnberg, Hamburger SV and VfL Bochum.

Midfielder Donkor earns his maiden senior international call-up after catching the eye with Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls.

The 22-year-old began his career at the JMG Football Academy in Mali before moving to Guidars FC and completing a switch to the Red Bulls in May 2023.

Both players are expected to join the Black Stars camp in Ghana in the coming days as Queiroz prepares his squad for three fixtures in quick succession.

Ghana begin their AFCON qualifying campaign away to Côte d'Ivoire on 24 September before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on 29 September.

The Black Stars will then travel to Morocco for a friendly against the Atlas Lions on 4 October as preparations continue for the rest of their international calendar.
