East Legon Football Academy applauds NPA Boss for supporting youth football

The East Legon Football Academy has expressed appreciation to the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) for supporting its efforts to develop young football talents through international competitions and training programmes.

The Academy said the Authority’s financial assistance had enabled its young players to participate in football development activities in Denmark and Spain.

With the support, the Academy travelled to Denmark to compete in the prestigious Dana Cup, an international youth football tournament in which it has participated for the past four years.

The Academy has recorded impressive results at the competition, with its Under-14 boys’ team emerging champions in 2024 before the Under-12 side followed suit in 2025.

The young players also travelled to Spain to take part in scouting trials with Rush SPF Academy in Madrid.

During their stay, they visited the Santiago Bernabéu and Metropolitano Stadiums, the respective home grounds of Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, and participated in training sessions with football academies in the country.

The Academy paid a courtesy visit to the NPA earlier today to formally express its gratitude to the Authority for the support.

The Chief Executive Officer of the NPA, Mr Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, Esq., congratulated the Academy on its achievements and commended the young players for demonstrating courage, discipline and commitment in their pursuit of excellence through football.

He said the determination displayed by the players to compete internationally was encouraging and reflected the values needed to succeed at the highest level of the sport.

As part of the visit, the Academy presented Mr Tameklo with a citation and a personalised football jersey in recognition of the NPA’s contribution to the development of young footballers.

The NPA’s support for the East Legon Football Academy forms part of the Authority’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at contributing to national development.
