Nathaniel Adjei shines as Lorient surrender two-goal lead against Toulouse

Ghana defender Nathaniel Adjei delivered another assured display as Lorient were held to a 2-2 draw by Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

The 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes at the Stade du Moustoir, earning a 7.0 rating despite his side letting a two-goal advantage slip in their Matchday Four encounter.

Lorient appeared to be cruising towards victory before half-time after Ibrahima Baldé opened the scoring in the 37th minute and Noah Mbamba doubled the lead two minutes later.

Toulouse responded immediately after the restart, with Casper Tengstedt pulling one back in the 48th minute before Thomas Jørgensen completed the comeback with a 68th-minute equaliser.

Although Lorient were left frustrated by the dropped points, Adjei's consistent performances continued at the heart of the defence as the newly promoted side moved into eighth place with five points from four matches.

The former Hammarby defender will now look to retain his place in the starting XI when Lorient travel to face Le Mans at the Stade Marie-Marvingt next weekend.

Adjei is also expected to be included in Ghana's squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d'Ivoire and The Gambia later this month.
