Thomas Partey to miss Al-Shababs next two matches as AFCON qualifiers approach

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is set to miss Al-Shabab's next two matches as he continues a specialised fitness programme ahead of the upcoming international window.

The 33-year-old will sit out league fixtures against Al-Kholood and Al-Fayha while he works towards full match fitness under the supervision of the club's fitness coach.

Partey is currently undergoing an intensive training regime designed to aid his recovery and ensure he returns in optimal condition.

His absence comes with Ghana preparing for crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers later this month.

The Black Stars travel to face Côte d'Ivoire on 24 September before hosting The Gambia on 27 September.

Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to name his squad for the two matches before the end of the week, with Partey's fitness likely to be closely monitored ahead of the announcement.

The experienced midfielder joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab as a free agent after leaving Spanish club Villarreal and remains an important figure for the Black Stars as they seek to secure qualification for the tournament.
