United Party (UP) stalwart Hopeson Adorye has urged the BNI, National Security and other security agencies to take Nana Obiri Boahen’s warning about the NDC government seriously.

Adorye said Obiri Boahen had given security agencies enough of a clue to warrant attention, particularly his claim that some things happening under President John Mahama are not coming from the President himself.

“He has given a clue, and the BNI, National Security and others shouldn’t joke with it. He said a lot of things that are ongoing are not from Mahama, and they shouldn’t joke with it,” Adorye said on Accra FM.

Obiri Boahen had warned the NDC not to underestimate the NPP, saying the party had “planned a lot” and urging President Mahama to be careful.

“The kind of mindset that the NPP has picked, the NDC shouldn’t underestimate them at all.

“I don’t know when I will die, but the NPP has planned a lot, so the NDC shouldn’t underrate them,” he said in a video shared on YouTube.

He also asked Mahama to pay attention to Ghana’s political history, particularly the overthrow of Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah.

“I am a historian, and I am talking,” Obiri Boahen said.

“Mahama should be careful. Mahama is my elder brother, and he should be guided by the lessons of history. A lot of things happening in your government are not coming from you,” he added.

Adorye said Obiri Boahen’s comments should not be dismissed.

He recalled rumours from around 2000 about women allegedly being found dead in the country, saying the NPP had promised to stop such incidents when it came to power.

“So, what Obiri Boahen is saying is a serious allegation, and the BNI shouldn’t take it for granted,” Adorye said.
