Former Asante Kotoko management member Alhaji Abu Lamini has called on supporters of the club to unite behind the newly constituted board and management team, expressing confidence that their ambitious plans can restore the Porcupine Warriors to the summit of Ghanaian and African football.

Following the end of the 2025/26 season, Asante Kotoko Life Patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, appointed a new board of directors headed by James Osei Brown as chairman, with Kwasi Osei Ofori serving as vice-chairman.

Businessman Kofi Amoah-Abban is also among the board members tasked with steering the club's future.

Alhaji Lamini, who has held several leadership roles at the club over the years, said discussions with members of the new board left him convinced they possess both the vision and commitment required to return Kotoko to their former glory.

"I know the board members, I have interacted with them and I can tell they have a great plan and are determined to ensure Kotoko recaptures the great heights the club once occupied," he told Graphic Online.

He added that the board appears willing to engage all key stakeholders, including supporters, former players and past administrators, as part of efforts to rebuild the club.

"In my interactions with them, I became convinced they are very open and ready to work closely with the supporters, former players, former board members and other stakeholders to ensure Kotoko not only dominates Ghana football but also becomes a force to reckon with in African football once again," he said.

The new board has outlined an ambitious rebuilding agenda aimed at strengthening the club both on and off the pitch, with the long-term objective of re-establishing Kotoko among Africa's elite clubs.

Meanwhile, the Porcupine Warriors began their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign with a 202 draw against newly promoted Debibi United at the Golden City Park in Berekum.

Kotoko will now turn their attention to their first home fixture of the season, where they are set to welcome Heart of Lions on Sunday.
