Alexander Djiku influenced my move to Fenerbahçe - Kojo Oppong Peprah

Ghana defender Kojo Oppong Peprah says conversations with Black Stars team-mate Alexander Djiku influenced his decision to join Turkish Super League side Fenerbahçe.

The 22-year-old has completed a reported 12 million euro move from French club OGC Nice, signing a four-year contract with the Istanbul giants after spending the 2025-26 season in Ligue 1.

Speaking at his unveiling, Peprah revealed that Djiku's positive assessment of the club played a significant role in his decision.

"I spoke with Alexander Djiku. Hearing nice things from someone who played here had an impact on my transfer," he said.

Djiku spent two seasons at Fenerbahçe before moving to Russian club Spartak Moscow.

Peprah arrives in Turkey after impressing for both club and country. He featured in two of Ghana's matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including the goalless draw against England, where he made a crucial headed clearance to help preserve a point.

His move continues Ghana's long-standing connection with Fenerbahçe, following in the footsteps of Stephen Appiah, Sam Johnson, Andre Ayew and Djiku.
