GFA in talks with other coaches as Carlos Queiroz future remains uncertain - Nana Oduro Sarfo reveals

Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Nana Oduro Sarfo has confirmed that the association is still in talks with other coaches as it considers its options for the Black Stars' head coach position.

The future of Carlos Queiroz remains uncertain despite the Portuguese trainer guiding Ghana to the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The 73-year-old was appointed in April on a short-term contract after replacing Otto Addo, with his immediate task being to lead the Black Stars at the global showpiece.

Queiroz helped Ghana reach the knockout phase of the tournament, but his continued stay has yet to be confirmed, with his demands reportedly proving a stumbling block in negotiations over a new long-term deal.

Nana Oduro Sarfo has now disclosed that the GFA is exploring other options while discussions over the coaching position continue.

"The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is still in talks with other coaches for the Black Stars job," Oduro Sarfo told Kumasi-based Ezra Radio.

The Black Stars are expected to return to competitive action in September when they begin their qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana has been drawn in Group C alongside neighbours Ivory Coast, The Gambia and Somalia.

The four-time African champions will be determined to secure a return to the continental tournament after missing out on the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
