Kwasi Sibo must be excluded from Black Stars, says Databank CEO Kojo Addae-Mensah

Databank Ghana Chief Executive Officer Kojo Addae-Mensah has criticised Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo, insisting that the 28-year-old is not good enough to represent Ghana at the senior international level.

Sibo was included in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America and featured in all four matches played by the Black Stars during the tournament.

However, the former Real Oviedo midfielder has faced criticism over his performances, with some observers questioning his suitability for the national team following what was widely regarded as an underwhelming World Cup campaign.

Reflecting on Sibo’s displays at the Mundial, Addae-Mensah expressed his disappointment with the midfielder’s performances and called for him to be left out of the squad for Ghana’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.

“Kwasi Sibo is a good footballer, but not good enough to play for the Black Stars,” Addae-Mensah told Asempa FM.

Sibo will now face competition for a place in the national team as Ghana prepares to return to competitive action in September for the start of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Kwasi Sibo is now a free agent after leaving the Spanish side following the expiration of his contract.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group C alongside West African rivals Ivory Coast, The Gambia and Somalia.

Ghana will be seeking to secure qualification for the tournament after failing to make it to the previous edition of the AFCON held in Morocco.
