Caleb Yirenkyi completes Coventry City move from FC Nordsjaelland after breakthrough World Cup campaign

The 19-year-old has joined the Sky Blues on a long-term contract from Danish Superliga outfit FC Nordsjaelland, with the transfer fee remaining undisclosed.

Yirenkyi arrives at Coventry following a remarkable rise in his career, which saw him become one of Ghana’s brightest young talents.

The midfielder played a key role for the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring alongside Brandon Thomas-Asante and scoring the decisive goal in Ghana’s victory over Panama.

His impressive displays at both club and international level have already earned him 15 senior caps for Ghana, underlining his rapid development since making his breakthrough into professional football.

The talented midfielder began his journey at the Right to Dream Academy before moving to Denmark to join FC Nordsjaelland in 2024.

He made his senior debut for the club in September of that year at just 18 years old and quickly became an important member of the first team.

During the 2025/26 campaign, Yirenkyi featured 34 times for Nordsjaelland as the club secured a third-place finish in the Danish Superliga and earned qualification for the UEFA Conference League.

His outstanding performances throughout the season were rewarded with individual recognition, as he was named Danish Superliga Young Player of the Year and included in the league’s Team of the Year.

Coventry City will now hope the Ghanaian midfielder can continue his rapid development as he begins a new chapter in England, with expectations high for the youngster following his impressive performances on the domestic and international stage.
