Three Ghanaian athletes reportedly disappear from Team Ghana Camp after Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Three Ghanaian athletes have reportedly gone missing from the Team Ghana camp following the conclusion of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The multi-sport event officially ended on Sunday, but officials of the Ghana delegation are yet to establish the whereabouts of the three athletes who disappeared from camp.

The missing athletes have been identified as para athlete Zinabu Issah, boxer Daniel Plange, and boxer Precious Akai Nettey.

Issah, who delivered one of Ghana’s medal-winning performances at the Games, secured a bronze medal in the women’s shot put alongside teammate Daniel Gyasi Plange. Her disappearance has raised concerns among officials, who are currently trying to locate her.

Plange, who competed in boxing, suffered a 0-5 defeat against Northern Ireland’s William John McCartan in the men’s 90+ kg category.

Meanwhile, Akai Nettey recorded a victory over Fiji’s Elijah Qiokata through a second-round stoppage at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow before losing by unanimous decision to Mauritius’ Merven Clair in the quarter-finals, ending her medal hopes.

Officials of Team Ghana have confirmed that they are unaware of the athletes’ current locations and are working to determine what happened after the competition.

Ghana sent a 40-member athlete delegation to the 2026 Commonwealth Games and finished the tournament with two medals, including a silver medal from para athlete Zinabu Issah and a bronze medal from boxer Amadu Mohammed.
