WAFU B U-20 Championship: Black Satellites complete preparations for final much win clash against Togo

The Black Satellites have concluded preparations for their final Group B match against Togo at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, with head coach Maxwell Konadu putting his side through their last training session ahead of Sunday's encounter in Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire.

The team trained on Saturday at full intensity as Konadu focused on tactical organisation, attacking movements and finishing drills to fine-tune his squad for the decisive fixture at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium.

Ghana will be aiming to finish the tournament on a high after a difficult campaign that has yielded just one point from two matches.

The Black Satellites opened their campaign with a 4-2 defeat to defending champions Nigeria before showing resilience in their second outing, battling to a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso despite playing the majority of the game with ten men.

With the team's hopes of progressing already over, Konadu is expected to rotate his squad for the clash against Togo. The former Ghana international could hand opportunities to players who have seen limited action during the competition while still fielding a strong side capable of securing all three points.

Although the Black Satellites' participation in the tournament will end after Sunday's fixture, the competition has served as an important step in the team's preparations for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which Ghana will host.

Having already secured automatic qualification for the continental championship as hosts, the technical team has used the WAFU B tournament to evaluate the squad in a competitive environment, improve tactical cohesion and give the players valuable international experience ahead of next year's tournament.

A positive result against Togo would provide a timely confidence boost as the Black Satellites shift their attention to final preparations for the U-20 AFCON on home soil, where they will be targeting a strong showing in front of their home supporters.
