The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has thrown its full support behind the Black Queens ahead of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), urging the senior women's national team to make Ghana proud as they prepare for the continental tournament.
In a goodwill message dated July 26, 2026, and addressed to the Black Queens, the Ministry praised the team's rich history in African women's football and expressed confidence in their ability to excel on the continental stage.
The statement highlighted the team's dedication, skill and passion, describing the Black Queens as a source of national pride whose achievements continue to inspire Ghanaians.
"Your storied history in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations reflects your dedication, skill, and passion. With a bronze medal in 2025, you have consistently demonstrated that you are the true pride of Africa, inspiring us all with your unwavering spirit on the field," the Ministry said.
The government also assured the players that they have the backing of millions of supporters across Ghana and the African continent as they seek success at the tournament.
"Millions of fans back home in Ghana and across the continent stand firmly behind you, cheering every move you make. The Government and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation are immensely proud to support you as you prepare to shine on the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations stage," the statement added.
The Ministry further called on Ghanaians to unite in support of the national team throughout the competition.
"Let's rally behind our Queens and show them the full support of Ghana! Together, we believe in you. Go Queens and make Ghana proud!!!!"
Meanwhile, Ghana have been housed in Group D alongside Cameroon, Cape Verde and Mali.
