Black Stars assistant coach Roger De Sa has disclosed that his contract with Ghana was limited to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with his deal set to expire at the end of July.
The South African tactician was brought into Ghana’s technical team ahead of the tournament in North America following the appointment of head coach Carlos Queiroz.
De Sa joined the Black Stars backroom staff after the Ghana Football Association parted ways with Otto Addo just months before the World Cup, with Queiroz taking charge of the national team’s preparations.
Speaking in an interview with KickOff, the former goalkeeper confirmed that his agreement with the Ghana Football Association was specifically tied to the global tournament.
"I was only contracted until the end of July, so that's it," De Sa said.
"My contract was just for the World Cup, and it ends on the 31st of July," he added.
During the 2026 World Cup, Ghana began their campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Panama before playing out a goalless draw against England.
The Black Stars concluded their Group L fixtures with a 2-1 defeat to Croatia, finishing third in the group but advancing to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams.
However, Ghana’s tournament came to an end in the Round of 32 after a 1-0 loss to Colombia.
With the World Cup campaign now concluded, the Black Stars will turn their attention to the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana has been placed in Group C alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Somalia and The Gambia, with the qualifying series scheduled to commence in September.
