Black Stars assistant coach Roger De Sa has suggested that Carlos Queiroz is still in charge of Ghana’s senior national team despite reports surrounding the Portuguese trainer’s future.
Ghana’s World Cup campaign came to an end after a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32, with Queiroz later posting a message on social media which appeared to suggest he was stepping away from his role.
The veteran coach, who took over from Otto Addo on a short-term basis, wrote that he was leaving his position with pride, sparking speculation about his departure.
However, De Sa, who was added to Ghana’s technical team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, revealed that he has not received any official communication confirming Queiroz’s resignation.
"I don't know if that's official [that he has left], I have only seen it on social media. But I don't think that is from him because he would have told me if that's the case," De Sa said in an interview with KickOff.
The South African coach maintained that Queiroz remains the head coach of the Black Stars until an official decision is made.
Ghana began their World Cup campaign with a 1-0 victory over Panama before holding England to a goalless draw. The Black Stars, however, lost 2-1 to Croatia in their final Group L match to finish third and advance to the knockout stage.
Their tournament ended in the Round of 32 following a narrow defeat to Colombia, bringing Ghana’s World Cup journey to a close.
The Black Stars will now turn their attention to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where they have been placed in Group C alongside Ivory Coast, Somalia and The Gambia.
The qualification campaign is scheduled to begin in September as Ghana aims to return to the continental showpiece after missing out on the 2025 edition.
