Former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has thrown his support behind Ghana's U-17 women's national team, urging the Black Maidens to approach their decisive FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup qualifier against Senegal with confidence and determination.
The Black Maidens will host their Senegalese counterparts at the Accra Sports Stadium this weekend after the first leg of the final qualifying tie ended in a goalless draw in Dakar.
During an official visit to the team's training camp in Accra, Ayew encouraged the players to embrace the occasion and trust in their abilities as they seek to secure a place at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
“Opportunities like these do not come around often, and I encourage you to play with courage, discipline and belief in your abilities," the U-20 World Cup winner told the squad.
The former Ghana skipper also reminded the players of the honour that comes with representing the nation, urging them to rely on the hard work that has brought them this far in the qualification campaign.
"You need to stay united, enjoy the moment and leave everything on the pitch. The entire country is behind you and believes you can qualify," he added.
The winner of the two-legged encounter will secure qualification for the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, making Saturday's clash a pivotal moment for the Black Maidens.
Kick-off at the Accra Sports Stadium is scheduled for 15:30 GMT.
