Kwaku Andy denies claims of accusing Black Stars players of sleeping with prostitutes at World Cup

Asempa FM's Ultimate Sports Show host Obeng Kwaku Andy, popularly known as Papa Myxtro, has strongly denied reports claiming he accused Black Stars players of engaging with prostitutes during Ghana's campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars were knocked out of the tournament after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32, bringing an end to their World Cup journey.

In the aftermath of the elimination, Kwaku Andy, while presenting his report on Asempa FM on Tuesday, July 7, stated that the players had been granted a day off after Ghana's match against Panama to relax and enjoy themselves.

However, several blogs later published reports alleging that the veteran broadcaster claimed some Black Stars players left their team hotel to sleep with prostitutes and brought women back to their rooms.

One such report alleged that while the team was based in New York, some players travelled to other states in the United States to have sexual encounters with different women, while others allegedly entertained women in their hotel rooms.

Responding to the reports, Papa Myxtro described the claims as false and insisted that he had been misquoted.

"I never said the Black Stars players went out to sleep with prostitutes or brought women into their hotel rooms. That is completely false," he said.

"What I said was that the players were given a day off, and some of them went out to have fun. Those are my exact words. The statements now being attributed to me are entirely false."

His clarification comes amid widespread discussion following Ghana's disappointing World Cup exit, with attention now shifting to the future of the national team.

The Black Stars are expected to begin preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which get underway in September, as they aim to bounce back and secure a place at the continental tournament.
