The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Ghana Boxing Authority has called on all professional boxers yet to register for the ongoing health screening exercise to do so before the extended deadline on Friday, May 29, 2026.
According to IMC Coordinator, Gideon Oyiadzo, popularly known as Jingles, the extension represents the final opportunity for unregistered boxers to be part of the exercise.
In a statement signed by IMC Chairman Samir Captan, the committee indicated that registration, which began at the Jamestown Police Station on Monday, May 25, remains ongoing despite disruptions caused by heavy rainfall.
To encourage maximum participation, the Planning Committee has revised the schedule and urged all professional boxers to complete the registration process before the new deadline.
The registration team is stationed at the Jamestown Police Station from 8:00 a.m. daily.
Under the updated arrangements, the health screening exercise will take place on Friday, May 29, with registration continuing at the Jamestown Police Station and medical screening set to be conducted at the La Paz Community Hospital.
The IMC also announced that transportation will be provided for participating boxers, while all medical examinations will be fully sponsored.
Captan stressed that the exercise forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving safety and professionalism within the sport.
“Your health and safety remain our top priority. This initiative forms part of broader reforms to promote athlete welfare, longevity, and professionalism in Ghanaian boxing,” he said.
The committee encouraged boxers seeking further information or assistance to contact GBIMC Secretary Patrick Johnson or IMC Coordinator Gideon Oyiadzo.
