Travel consultant and businessman Ivan Bruce Cudjoe, popularly known as IBC, has officially filed his nomination to contest in the upcoming Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) elections slated for June 4, 2026, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Mr. Cudjoe submitted his documents to the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the GBA on Tuesday before addressing members of the media on his vision for Ghana boxing.

Explaining his decision to enter the race, Cudjoe said the time was right for him to contribute to the development of the sport, stressing the need for transparency, discipline and improved governance within Ghana boxing.

According to him, his administration would prioritise expanding boxing across all 16 regions of the country to identify and nurture hidden talents capable of becoming future champions.

“There are many gifted young boxers across the country who need the right platform and support to excel,” he noted.

Cudjoe also addressed concerns surrounding the term “Atsiagbeshie,” often associated with journeymen fighters in Ghana boxing. He said while journeymen remain part of the sport, they must provide competitive entertainment for fans rather than performances that end in early defeats.

He further pledged to run an open and inclusive administration that would benefit all stakeholders and improve boxing governance in the country.

As part of his development agenda, Cudjoe promised support for retired boxers and coaches, proposing that they be engaged by the National Sports Authority to scout and train amateur talents who could progress into professional boxing.

The aspiring GBA president also outlined plans to create more opportunities for local fighters. He assured national title holders of automatic pathways to Commonwealth title bouts while seeking greater Ghanaian participation in competitions sanctioned by global boxing organisations such as the WBC, IBF, WBO and WBA.

According to him, these initiatives would help place Ghanaian boxers in world rankings and increase their chances of competing for international titles.

Cudjoe arrived at the nomination venue with a group of supporters dressed in branded T-shirts who cheered him throughout the process.

Meanwhile, Ellis Quaye, a partner of Cabic Promotions, has also filed his nomination to contest for the position of Second Vice President.

Several other candidates seeking various positions within the GBA were present at the Accra Sports Stadium to submit their nomination forms.

In a related development, the GBA Interim Management Committee is expected to hold a stakeholders’ meeting on Wednesday, May 20, aimed at discussing arrangements to ensure a free and fair electoral process.
