Newly appointed Black Stars goalkeepers trainer Daniel Gasper is expected to arrive in Ghana this weekend as he begins work with the national team in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Gasper joins the Black Stars technical setup following the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as head coach, taking up the role of first goalkeepers trainer.
The Portuguese specialist is expected to hold talks in Accra with Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare before travelling to Europe to engage other members of Ghana’s goalkeeping department, including Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang.
He is also scheduled to meet other members of the technical team, among them former Ghana international Fatau Dauda, who has been named second goalkeepers trainer.
Gasper arrives with vast experience, having worked with several clubs and national teams across Europe and the Middle East.
He is widely recognised for his long-standing partnership with Queiroz, serving as a trusted goalkeeping coach during the veteran manager’s spells with Iran, Colombia and Egypt.
His addition is expected to strengthen Ghana’s technical bench, particularly in improving the quality, consistency and overall performance of the Black Stars goalkeepers.
The Black Stars will continue their preparations later this month with an international friendly against Mexico before facing Wales on June 2 in their final warm-up match.
Ghana, four-time African champions, will make their fifth appearance at the World Cup after being drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
The Black Stars open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before taking on England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27 in their remaining group matches.
