Chief Executive Officer of Aduana FC, Collins Attah Poku, has revealed that the club is determined to win the MTN FA Cup in honour of the late Dominic Frimpong.
The young forward, 20, died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head during a robbery attack on Sunday along the Ahyiresua Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Nyinahin District.
The incident occurred when the Berekum Chelsea team bus was ambushed while returning to Berekum after their Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex.
The attack forced players and officials to flee into nearby bushes, with several sustaining minor injuries. Frimpong, who was on loan from Aduana FC, was critically injured and later passed away.
Speaking ahead of Aduana FC’s FA Cup semifinal clash against Nations FC, Attah Poku said the club is motivated to honour the late striker with silverware.
“We want to win the MTN FA Cup in honour of the late Dominic Frimpong," he told MOTV.
"Before his passing, he jokingly sent me a voice note saying that if Aduana FC don’t win the FA Cup, I should sack all the players. We have to do it for him," Attah Poku added.
Frimpong is expected to be laid to rest on April 29 at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of the gang leader and another suspect in connection with the robbery attack.
