The Chief Executive Officer of Medeama SC, James Essilfie, has dismissed reports linking the club with a move for Asante Kotoko captain Samba O’Neil.
The Congolese defender, who has been one of Kotoko’s standout performers in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season despite the club’s inconsistent form, has recently been linked with a switch to Tarkwa as Medeama prepare for possible continental football next season.
However, Essilfie insists there is no truth to the speculation, stressing that the Yellow and Mauve outfit are satisfied with their current defensive options.
"It's not true that we have expressed interest in Samba O'Neil, as far as I am concerned, the CEO of the club. If it was in the past, I will admit, but for now, we have not expressed interest in him," he told Asempa FM.
"Samba is a good player, but he doesn't come close to any of our centre-backs or any of our players.
"He has his qualities as a player, but we are content with what we have at the moment. If we are to improve the squad next season, we will look elsewhere," Essilfie added.
Medeama currently sit at the top of the Ghana Premier League table and are also preparing for a crucial FA Cup semi-final clash against Dreams FC.
