The 2025 Genser PGA Championship is underway at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, drawing 75 professional golfers from Ghana and several neighbouring countries for the PGA Ghana’s showpiece event of the year.
The four-day competition, which began on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, serves as the grand finale of the season.
This year’s lineup includes 45 regular professionals, 13 women, and 17 senior golfers, all chasing a sizeable prize purse and the prestige that comes with lifting the championship trophy. The event follows last year’s successful edition at the Damang Golf Club in the Western Region.
Backed by headline sponsor Genser Energy and a number of partner institutions, the championship reflects the growing corporate interest in supporting professional golf in the country.
At the opening ceremony, PGA President Hans De Beer stressed the importance of sponsorship in sustaining the sport’s growth. He thanked Genser Energy and other partners for their continued investment and urged the golfers to respect the rules and compete at the highest level.
PGA Vice President Alhaji Ahmed Padori also commended the Royal Golf Club and paid tribute to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his unwavering support and for granting approval for the championship to be staged at the revered facility. He encouraged competitors to uphold discipline and strive for excellence.
Tournament Director Eric Henaku and several golfers — among them Emos Koblah, Jessica Tei, and Francis Torgah — voiced their enthusiasm ahead of the contest, expressing confidence in producing standout performances in Kumasi.
The tournament runs through the weekend, with players battling for glory in a climax that promises to deliver a thrilling end to the 2025 professional golf season.
