The High Court in Dambai has adjourned to October 9, 2026, the case challenging the outcome of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Krachi East Constituency Organiser election.
The suit was filed by Mr Justice Mensah, who is contesting the conduct and outcome of the constituency organiser election.
At the hearing, the court directed the defendants, Mr Jacob Addo, the Electoral Commission (EC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to file their affidavits in opposition to the claims contained in the plaintiff’s application.
The court said the respondents must formally respond to the allegations before the substantive issues in the case could be determined.
After hearing preliminary submissions, the presiding judge, Justice Dr Moses Bedima Duut, adjourned the matter to October 9, for further proceedings.
The dispute arose from the recent NPP Krachi East Constituency executive elections, where disagreement emerged over the declaration of the organiser position.
The election became contentious after an initial declaration of results was followed by a recount, which subsequently declared Mr Jacob Addo the winner.
The development sparked protests by some party supporters, leading to the temporary closure of the NPP constituency office, before the matter was referred to the High Court for adjudication.
The outcome of the case is expected to determine the legitimacy of the organiser election and could have significant implications for the party’s leadership in the constituency ahead of future political activities.
The parties are expected to comply with the court’s directives before the case resumes on October 9, 2026.
