Gabonese President Brice Oligui Nguema to visit Ghana

President of the Republic of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, is expected to undertake a three-day official visit to Ghana from July 28 to 30 at the invitation of President John Dramani Mahama.

A statement issued by the Presidency said the Gabonese leader will be accompanied by a high-powered delegation made up of ministers of state, senior government officials and members of Gabon’s business community.

The visit, according to the Presidency, underscores the growing diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and Gabon and is expected to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

As part of the programme, President Mahama and President Oligui Nguema will hold a private tête-à-tête meeting before leading their respective delegations into formal bilateral talks at the Jubilee House in Accra on July 28.

The discussions will focus on assessing the current state of relations between the two nations while exploring opportunities to expand collaboration in several strategic sectors.

Key areas expected to feature during the talks include political and diplomatic cooperation, trade and investment, mining, energy, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, maritime affairs, transport, tourism, education, health, defence and security, environmental protection, climate action and people-to-people exchanges.

The Presidency said the two Heads of State are also expected to reaffirm their commitment to deepening bilateral relations and advancing sustainable economic development for the mutual benefit of Ghanaian and Gabonese citizens.

“The official visit marks another watershed moment in the dynamic bilateral relations between Ghana and Gabon,” the Presidency said in the statement.
