The national U-23 team, the Black Meteors have stepped up preparations for an encounter with their South African counterparts, the Amagluglug, at the El Wak Sports Stadium next weekend.
The match is the return encounter of the qualifying series for next year's Olympic Games in China.
As part of its preparations, the Meteors will this Sunday lock horns with Premier League Champions, Accra Hearts of Oak in a friendly match at the El Wak Sports Stadium.
The Jones Attuquayefio side which will assume the leadership of Group A if they defeat the South Africans on 13th October, will be using the match to straighten the rough edges in the team.
Hearts on the other hand will be using the match to assess their readiness for the 2007/2008 league season which commences on 27th October.
Coach Attuquayefio is expected to welcome his injured central defender Stephen Offei to partner Bawa Mumuni in order to allow the burly defensive midfielder of Hearts, Joseph Techie-Menson to move into the central midfield of the team.
Other players expected to impress in order to merit a place in the final team are Francis Akwaffo, Sampson Kudjoe, Addoquaye Addo and Emmanuel Allan (Skido).
The Meteors last month defeated the Amagluglug 3-1 in far away South Africa to close in on the single slot for Africa at the 2008 Beijing Olympics Games.
Saudi Arabia-based striker Prince Tagoe scored two of the goals with Heart of Lions midfielder, Obed Ansah completing the rout.
Meanwhile Steve Komphela, coach of the Amagluglug has named a 25-member squad which will be trimmed down to 20 to face the Meteors next week.
Included in the squad are Masilo Modubi of Westerlo in Belgium and striker Lerato Chabangu of Mamelodi Sundowns.
The team is expected to arrive in Accra on 10th October.
