Former Ghana midfielder Alfred Duncan believes the country has an abundance of talented players capable of elevating the senior national team.
Duncan, who previously played for Inter Milan, last featured for the Black Stars in 2019, earning nine caps since his debut in 2016.
Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Duncan revealed that he retired from international football earlier than expected due to what he described as a lack of respect.
He also disclosed that the last two coaches of the Black Stars attempted to persuade him to return, but he declined the opportunity.
Explaining his decision to remain retired, Duncan stated: "For me, yes it is final because at my age now I dont think obviously I can be able to give more to the national team but I think there are really young ones more talented and who have more fresh blood and can really help the national team than I can so I don’t see the reason why I should block someone's chance."
Duncan made six appearances for Ghana during his international career. Meanwhile, the Black Stars are set to regroup next week for their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
