The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has charged the president of Young Apostles, Sammy Anim Addo, with misconduct following a social media outburst criticizing officiating in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
Anim Addo, a former Executive Council member on a social media post accused referee Maxwell Hanson of being the GFA’s “man for dirty works” in response to complaints from Accra Lions over Hanson’s performance during their 1-0 loss to Dreams FC over the weekend at the Tuba Astro Turf.
In addition, Anim Addo further alleged that the GFA had threatened to ensure his team, Young Apostles, would be relegated after he raised concerns about poor officiating in the league.
However, the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) stated in a release that his remarks on X (formerly Twitter) constituted misconduct and brought the reputation of the league into disrepute.
Anim Addo has until Monday, January 13, 2024, to officially respond to the charges.
