Ghanaian defender Mohammed Umar has signed with Romanian SuperLiga club FC Politehnica Iași on a contract extending until 2027.
The talented centre-back joined as a free agent following a successful stint with Finnish side Ilves, where he was a key player.
Umar has already made appearances in cup matches for his new team and is expected to feature in upcoming league games.
During his time with Ilves, Umar won the Finnish Cup and helped the club qualify for the Europa League in his final season.
FC Politehnica Iași currently sits 11th in the Romanian SuperLiga standings with 17 points from 14 matches.
Umar was also part of Ghana’s Black Satellites squad that clinched the WAFU Zone B U-20 tournament under the guidance of coach Karim Zito.
