New Black Stars captain, Mohammed Kudus, has publicly apologised to Ghanaians following the team's disappointing 2-0 defeat to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The loss, which took place in Round 4 of the qualifiers, has put Ghana's chances of securing a spot in the tournament at risk.
In his heartfelt statement, Mohammed Kudus expressed his deep sense of responsibility as captain, acknowledging the team’s poor performance.
"As someone who captained the team in the two games, it is with great humility and a deep sense of responsibility that I issue this statement. On behalf of the entire team, I would like to extend our sincerest apologies to the people of Ghana for our recent performances against Sudan in Accra and Libya," he said.
Mohammed Kudus assured Ghanaians that the Black Stars are determined to learn from their mistakes and improve in future matches.
"We want to assure Ghanaians that we are committed to learning from our mistakes, regrouping, and working tirelessly to restore the Black Stars to our former glory. We value the unwavering support and loyalty you've shown us, and we're determined to make you proud once again," he said.
In addition to his apology, Kudus urged fans to remain patient and continue supporting the team during this difficult period, emphasizing the players' determination to succeed and deliver better results for the nation.
