'I'm ready to play for Ghana' - Patric Pfeiffer confirms nationality switch

Augsburg center-back Patric Pfeiffer has officially switched his national allegiance from Germany to Ghana and is ready to join the Black Stars squad.

The 24-year-old's decision, originally announced by the Ghana Football Association two years ago alongside four other players, faced delays that postponed his eligibility for selection.

Despite the setbacks, Pfeiffer has confirmed that all necessary procedures have been completed, allowing him to represent Ghana at the senior level.

Speaking from Augsburg’s pre-season camp in Mpumalanga, South Africa, Pfeiffer expressed optimism about receiving a call-up in September.

“A few weeks ago I was in Ghana, and now I have my passport,” the Germany youth international said, as quoted by IdiskiTimes.

“I hope in September I can get a call-up. I know the coach, Otto Addo, because he was the coach of Hamburg’s youth team, where I played.

“I have good contacts with him. I wanted to join the Black Stars before, but I didn’t have my passport. Now it’s done, and I’m ready.”

Pfeiffer, who made eleven Bundesliga appearances last season despite injury setbacks, emphasized his Ghanaian heritage despite being born and raised in Germany.

“Yes, of course, because this is my motherland. I love Ghana, I love the people, I love the vibe, I love the food,” Pfeiffer affirmed.
