The Black Queens of Ghana have been eliminated from the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in France.
The Ghana women’s national team drew 3-3 with their counterparts from Zambia on Wednesday evening in the second leg of the third-round tie of the African qualifiers.
In a game played at Levy Nwanawasa Stadium, a brace from Barbara Banda and a strike from Kabange Mupopo proved crucial for the Copper Queens of Zambia.
Although the Black Queens also scored three goals through equalisers by Gifty Assifuah, Doris Boaduwaa, and Azumah Bugre to force the game into a draw, Zambia’s 1-0 win in Ghana has propelled the Copper Queens to the final round of the qualifiers.
The 4-3 aggregate defeat means the Black Queens are out of the qualifiers and will have to wait for the next edition of the Olympic Games to make another attempt for qualification.
