The Ghana U-20 team is on course to progress to the knockout stage of the 2021 CAF Total U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after drawing goalless with the Morocco U-20 team on Friday evening.
Courtesy of today’s result, the Black Satellites get to stay top of Group C of the tournament being staged in Mauritania.
The team will now prepare for their last match in the group stage against Gambia on Monday, February 22, 2021.
In the match against Morocco today at the Stade Municipal Nouadhibou, Ghana enjoyed the lion’s share of possession in the first half but it was the opponent that had the best chances.
With both sides failing to capitalize on the few half chances that came their way in the second half, the match eventually ended in a goalless stalemate.
As a result, the Ghana U-20 team has shared the spoils with the Morocco U-20 team a point apiece.
The two are the favourites to progress out of Group C but either Gambia or Tanzania could also advance to the knockout stage if results go their way in the last match.
