Legon Cities star Asamoah Gyan has defended why he has been coaching his teammates from the touchline.
In the first two games, the former Black Stars captain failed to play but finally made his debut for the club against Medeama over the weekend in a 1-1 draw game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Against Berekum Chelsea and Great Olympics, videos showed Gyan was coaching his teammates from the touchline.
On Friday, while on the bench and during warm-up, he was seen doing the same thing.
At the post-match press conference, Gyan was asked to clarify why he sometimes appears to be doing the job of the coach.
“I am a very passionate person. I am very funny, jovial and I can make everybody laugh but when it comes to working, I don’t joke. If somebody is going to stab my brother and I am there I won’t allow it," he said.
"The coach is not perfect. I am just behind him shouting at players. That doesn’t mean I am the coach. I am also trying to contribute.”
Gyan joined Legon Cities in October after swerving ‘dream club’ Asante Kotoko. He has played 20 minutes.
Legon Cities have picked up two points from three games.
After their second match, which they suffered a 3-0 defeat against Great Olympics, they sacked Goran Barjaktarevic and appointed Bashir Hayford as head coach.
