1992 Constitution: Indemnity clause, Ex-gratia, etc... Do we still need these?
The 1992 Constitution need some review. In the first place we need to get rid of septuagenarians and octogenarians from our politics as they are out of touch with the youth, the young ones and the rising generation. The age of a first time Presidential and Parliamentary candidate must NOT be more than 59 years. Such citizens can act as advisers on policies to the younger one in national office like President. The Electoral Commission has to undergo strenuous reform to make election fairer and open to let people have confidence in the our Democracy and elections. There have been a lot of confusion in the country in both political leaders and the public. The powers of the President of the Republic must be challenged when it is being abused. Currently when presidents feel threatened they fire civil servants just like that without any legitimate reason. An elected Senate or elected Council of State should have the power to employ and sack a corrupt high ranking civil servant.
Currently our Education is down and many people finish school including University students lack practical life experiences. There should be a constitutional framework to reform our Education.
Ghanaian ministers are morans they are all corrupt nd the people in it are worse immigration, army workers every one
REPLYI strongly believe that some of the articles need to be revised to be in consonance with current trends. Democracy at its cradle in 1992 has grown and matured to a level to accommodate the level at which our democracy stands worldwide.
A review is absolutely critical to ensure we are moving on in the right direction.
Its long over due which needed to be dumped into the dustbin the worst is the ex gracia and we dont need any 4years 2 terms in office for PRESIDENTS l suggest 7years 1 term for presidents and a 4 years 2 term for MP.s without ex gracia to both pres.and the MP.s they all served like ordinary Ghanaian
