You Shall Win This Battle Of Uncertainty

Mouse clicks. Computer opens.
A shout from the office: “Nana, are you on your job?”
“Yes,” she reply, “just trying to find the right folder for each client.”
She giggles. “That's fine. Be on your toes and give me a second.”
“Okay,” she responded.

It was early Monday morning. I sat quietly in my car, feeling down for reasons I couldn't explain.
A wave of rejection.
The fear of deportation, friends in the cell calling,
Thoughts of ICE.
Uncertainties about life.
The dread of tomorrow.
It all clumped together, pressing me down.
Sadness dripped through me and then, I passed out.

Forty five minutes later, a knock on my car window stirred me.
It was Jimmy, my white landlord.
“Hey Eric, you okay?”
“Hey buddy… I'm feeling a bit down. Not sure how I feel.”
“You want me to call 911?”

That moment marked the beginning of a revelation.
Life felt meaningless without God.
I stood between life and death.
Hospitals rejected me.
Doctors weren't ready to accept me.
I was left in the hands of the shadow of death.

For one week, I lost nearly all the blood in my body.
I was dehydrated.
My muscles ached.
My joints throbbed.
I faced my greatest fear:
Dying young.
Unfulfilled dreams.
A life unaccounted for.

I prayed:
“Lord, if You ever heal me and give me more years just as You added fifteen years to Hezekiah's life, refill my lost blood and give me another chance. I will forever be indebted to You. Let my life be a testament to Your kind faithfulness.”

The church prayed.
Friends screamed.
Mothers cried.
Heaven opened.
Words of comfort came:
“My son, weep not.” Luke 7:13

The Lord's mercy found me.
Health was restored.
Life was reversed.
Christ shone through the darkness and reigned supreme.

As the psalmist says:
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.”
The Lord is a strong tower.
Those who dwell in Him are safe.
For the wages of sin is death,
But the gift of God is eternal life.

Life does not promise tomorrow.
It does not guarantee the next chapter.
You are not assured of the next second.
But the Faithful One who stands strong as a mighty warrior, will never leave you alone.

Trusting in God's faithfulness is a symbol of hope.
It is the guarantee that you will never walk alone.
Jesus shines in the face of death.
And you, my friend, shall win the battle against uncertainty.
