This is the best time to develop Volta Region — James Gunu

Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has urged chiefs, politicians, youth, women and other stakeholders in the region to unite and contribute to efforts aimed at accelerating the development of the Volta Region.

He made the call during a meeting with Togbe Afrika, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Ghana.

According to Mr. Gunu, the region’s development requires the collective efforts of individuals and groups across the various sectors of society rather than the efforts of a single person.

"The development of this region cannot be done by one person. Everyone, chiefs, politicians, youth, and women, has a role to play," he said.

The Minister said the contributions of individuals and organisations must be brought together to create a stronger foundation for sustainable development in the region.

He cited the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, as an example of a prominent individual contributing to the progress of the region, while acknowledging the efforts of other personalities working towards improving the lives of the people.

Mr. Gunu urged stakeholders to identify areas where they could make meaningful contributions and remain committed to their respective responsibilities.

He also encouraged residents to take advantage of the opportunities and resources available to them, noting that even modest contributions could collectively make a significant difference in the region’s development.

The Regional Minister said the development agenda must place the youth at its centre, stressing that the future prospects of the region would depend largely on the foundation being created today.

"Now is the best time to develop the Volta Region. If we fail to act now, we may not know when another opportunity will come," he stressed.

He therefore called for greater unity and collective responsibility, emphasising that the development of the Volta Region should not be viewed as the responsibility of the Regional Minister alone but as a shared responsibility requiring the commitment of all stakeholders.
