Nigerian singer Lekan Osifeso Junior, professionally known as Lojay, has opened up about the discouragement he faced from family members when he chose to pursue music.
The 'Monalisa' crooner made this known during a recent livestream with content creator Gilmore, where he recalled how a wealthy and influential uncle told him he would never make it in the industry.
Lojay revealed that the uncle, who is now in politics, is very rich and popular, but he chose not to mention his name. He explained that instead of allowing the negative words to weigh him down, he turned them into fuel to push harder toward his goal.
He expressed happiness that his persistence eventually paid off, and he encouraged his fans to keep believing in their dreams and not let detractors discourage them.
He said:
"I have an uncle who is now in politics. I won't mention his name, but he is very rich and popular. When I wanted to start music, he told me I would never blow."
