Popular media personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, professionally known as Do2dtun, has fired back at the founder of the Headies Awards, Ayo Animashaun, over his recent criticism of Nigerian artistes.
In a post shared on his X handle on Thursday, Do2dtun questioned whether the Grammys have ever been held outside America, suggesting that the Headies should not be compared to the global award body.
He wrote:
"Have you ever seen them take the Grammys out of America before? Let's start there.
His comment comes after Animashaun on his Instagram page, had taken a swipe at Nigerian artistes who submit entries to foreign award bodies but refuse to submit to the Headies, only to complain about not being nominated.
Animashaun had also addressed critics questioning his decision to host the Headies outside Nigeria, stating that as long as the artistes and sponsors understand the vision, he stands by his decisions.
Animashaun's outburst followed reports that several Nigerian stars, including Davido, Ayra Starr, Tems, Asake, Burna Boy, Rema, and Victony, have submitted their songs for consideration for the 2027 Grammy Awards.
Recall that the 18th edition of The Headies award has been postponed to April 10 and 11, 2027, in Toronto, Canada.
