Woli Agba Advises Creatives On Importance of Adequate Rest, Investment

Popular gospel comedian and actor Ayo Ajewole, better known as Woli Agba, has advised creatives, including actors and musicians, to prioritise adequate rest, financial investment and healthy relationships over excessive work and unhealthy comparisons.

The entertainer gave the advice in a video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, in which he addressed concerns about the effectiveness of prayer and the need to balance spiritual commitments with physical well-being.

Speaking on the importance of rest, Woli Agba urged creatives to pay attention to their health despite the pressure to attend multiple events and make money.

“I want to be at four programmes, five programmes, even ten programmes. I know we all want to make money, but adequate rest is very important," he emphasized.

The founder of Instagram Parish Ministry (IPM), explained that the human body requires proper care to sustain an individual's vision and ambitions, likening it to a vehicle that cannot function without essential maintenance.

He illustrated this with the example of a car that cannot continue running without engine oil or water in its radiator, stressing that spiritual commitment does not eliminate the need to care for the body.

Woli Agba also cautioned against comparing personal progress with that of others, noting that such comparisons could disturb one's peace of mind.

“Stop comparing yourself to another person. You disturb your mindset by doing so,” he said, encouraging individuals to recognise their uniqueness and concentrate on their own journeys.

The comedian further advised people to maintain a supportive community through regular participation in a church or mosque, explaining that religious communities could provide companionship, fellowship and support beyond the immediate family.

He acknowledged that some celebrities might feel uncomfortable attending places of worship because of expectations that they should provide financial assistance, but encouraged them to find a congregation where they could participate meaningfully without undue pressure.

Speaking in financial security, Woli Agba listed investment as another important consideration, explaining that putting money into worthwhile ventures could help individuals achieve greater stability and make room for adequate rest.

"Have investments, so that you can rest," he stressed.

Addressing the question of whether prayer works, which inspired the video, the entertainer maintained that prayer remained important but should not be treated as a substitute for physical care.

“Your prayer is food for your spirit, not for your body,” he said, explaining that prayer serves as a spiritual practice while the body also requires rest and other forms of care.

He also challenged the tendency to treat extraordinary testimonies as expectations that must be replicated in every circumstance, arguing that miracles should not be taken for granted or used to discourage people from attending to their health.

Woli Agba concluded by calling for improvements in Nigeria's healthcare system, noting that inadequate public facilities and infrastructure could place additional strain on people's health and daily lives.

His message comes after the death of gospel singer Toluwanisings, who gave up the ghost on Wednesday, October 15, according to a statement shared on his verified Instagram page by his family.
