Veteran actress Ngozi Ezeonu has expressed deep concern over the rising cases of fake and substandard products in Nigeria, warning that the situation is claiming young lives.
Speaking a now-viral video on social media, she revealed that hospitals are filled with young people dying from kidney and liver problems caused by fake products.
Ezeonu acknowledged that people need to make money and become wealthy, but stressed that it should not come at the expense of human lives.
She further called for urgent action, urging regulatory bodies such as NAFDAC, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission to strengthen their monitoring and enforcement efforts to protect Nigerians from further harm.
"I don't understand what's happening in this country anymore. When you go to hospitals, you see young people dying with kidney problems, liver problems, because everything is fake."
"I know we have to look for money and be rich, but not at the detriment of lives. We shouldn't be our own enemy."
