Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has advised women to be deliberate about their choice of a partner, urging them not to settle for someone simply because they were chosen.
She shared this during a recent episode of her podcast on YouTube.
According to her, whether a man is younger, older, or exactly the same age, the important question is whether both partners can love, support, and build with each other. She explained that people are not looking for numbers but for a partner, adding that if that partner happens to be younger, it is perfectly fine.
She also addressed older women specifically, cautioning them against choosing a younger man merely because he makes them feel desirable.
The Yoruba actress advised them to choose him only if he respects and supports them, makes them feel safe, is emotionally mature, knows what he wants, respects their children and their life, and genuinely wants to build something with them.
She said:
"Ladies, don't choose someone because they chose you. Choose someone because they are right for you. Whether he's younger, older or exactly your age, the question is always: Can we love, support, and build with each other?"
"Because at the end of the day, we are not looking for numbers. We are looking for a partner. And if that partner happens to be younger, that is also fine."
"To the older woman, if a younger man is interested in you, please don't make the mistake of choosing him because he makes you feel desirable. Choose him because he respects you, supports you, and makes you feel safe."
"Only choose him if he is emotionally mature and knows what he wants, respects your children and your life, and actually wants to build something with you."
