Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has criticised Christians who use their phones during church services, describing the habit as saddening.
In a post shared on his X handle on Thursday, he questioned why worshippers cannot stay away from their phones for just an hour in respect to God.
Edochie compared their behaviour to how they would act in the presence of a Governor or President, noting that they would willingly hand over their phones for hours without complaint.
He wondered why the same reverence is not given to God, stating that it is sad that people cannot switch off their phones and listen to His word while in the presence of their Creator.
He wrote:
"It's sad seeing people who go to church and be pressing their phones inside the church while mass or service is going on. You mean you can't stay off your phone for an hour in respect to God?"
"If you go to see a Governor or President, your phones will be taken from you for hours and you'll be ok with it. But while you're in the presence of our Creator, you can't put off your phone and listen to His word? Really sad."
