Nollywood actress Habibat Jinad, better known as RealOmoJinad, has opened up about the painful consequences of skin bleaching.
In a post on her Instagram page on Thursday, the Yoruba actress shared images of the injuries she suffered over the years, noting that the damage to her skin was one of the reasons she decided to stop bleaching.
She described her experience as a painful journey, stressing that she is not sharing her story to seek attention or pity, but to inspire anyone looking for a way to break a habit they are no longer comfortable with.
The movie star admonished her followers to understand that whatever habit they feel is not good for them, they can stop, even if it is not easy.
RealOmoJinad stated she made up her mind to stop and followed through with her whole heart, adding that she is now grateful for the peace that came with her decision.
She urged anyone who truly wants to change to make up their mind and take the first step, assuring them that God will give them the strength to start a new life.
She wrote:
"The pains behind my bleaching journey... Swipe to see. I don't just post these things here—I've been through them. This is one of the reasons why I decided to put a stop to bleaching my skin. I've learned to embrace my natural skin, and honestly... BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL. @realomojinad #iamatpeace"
"I'm not sharing this just to get attention or seek pity. No. I'm sharing my story because I want to inspire someone out there who has been looking for a way to stop a habit they're no longer comfortable with. Whatever it is you feel is not good for you, you can stop. It may not be easy, but you can do it."
"I made up my mind to stop, and I followed that decision with my whole heart. Today, I'm grateful for the peace that came with it. If you truly want to change, make up your mind and take that first step. Almighty God will surely give you the strength to start a new life."
"You deserve to be at peace with yourself. You can do it. Don't give up on yourself."
