Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has sparked a conversation online after stating that a person cannot be gay and be a Christian at the same time.
In a lengthy Instagram post, she addressed the growing teachings that suggest people can be queer and still practice the Christian faith, urging believers to return to the truth of Scripture.
The Toyobaby star made it clear that her stance is not about hate or judgment, noting that she does not wish evil upon anyone based on their sexuality and believes every human deserves to be treated with love. She, however, maintained that love does not mean agreeing with beliefs or lifestyles that contradict the Word of God.
She explained that God's design for humanity and sexuality is revealed in Scripture, and that following Jesus means surrender, not reshaping the Word to accommodate personal desires.
Juliana also announced that her ministry, Purity Hangout, will be holding an event on December 5, 2026, aimed at raising a generation that knows God and understands His Word. She noted that purity is not just a conversation but a lifestyle, and that registration for the event is free.
The post read:
"You can not be Christian and be gay."
"There are so many teachings flying around saying that you can be gay, queer etc and be a Christian. They say it coexist without conflict. But as Christians, we must ask: What does the Word of God actually say? Are we allowing the Word to shape our convictions, or are we reshaping the Word to accommodate our desires?"
"This is not about hate or about judging people. Let me make this clear: I do not hate people who identify as gay, homosexual, queer etc. I do not believe they deserves to die, and I do not wish evil upon them because of the sexuality they've chosen. Every human being deserves to be treated with love."
"Love is a commandment for all but loving someone does not mean I must agree with their beliefs or lifestyle. Especially when it's against the truth of the Scripture. I love you enough to tell you the truth. God's design for humanity and sexuality is revealed in His Word."
"Being a Christian/following Jesus means surrender."
"Following Jesus is not simply adding Christianity to the life we already want to live. It is surrendering our lives to Him."
"The Bible does not tell us to celebrate or redefine sexual sin or redefine gender, and identity. The biblical call is clear: God calls His people to sexual holiness/ sexual purity."
"Transformation is God's work, there is nobody He can not transform."
"We cannot afford to remain silent while teachings that contradict the Word of God continue to spread, reaching not just adults but teenagers and children too. It is time for the Church to wake up, return to the Scriptures, teach the truth, live by the word, and stop compromising. We must speak the truth in love and stand firmly on God's Word. Our convictions must be shaped by Scripture, not culture."
"This is part of the reason we have PURITY HANGOUT. We are raising a generation that knows God, loves Him, understands His Word, and is committed to living for Him. On the 5th of December 2026, we'll be gathering for Purity Hangout. Click the link in my bio to register. Come with your friends and family."
"Purity is not just a conversation; it is a lifestyle. May God continue to help us to follow Him and live in all purity. REGISTRATION IS FREE AND IT IS FREE TO ATTEND."
