"I Lost Fans For Revealing I'm A Muslim"– Adunni Ade

Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has opened up about the backlash she faced after publicly revealing that she is a Muslim.

The movie star made the disclosure in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where she explained that in her line of work, it is almost forbidden to publicly identify as a Muslim, and one could be looked down upon for doing so.

Adunni stated that Islam, for her, is not about outward appearance but about what is within and how one treats others. She revealed that she came out publicly with her religion because she was tired of keeping it a secret.

According to the energetic actress, she has attended different churches and is not saying Christianity is not a good religion, but rather that Islam is what works for her. She disclosed that she lost some fans who unfollowed her after her revelation, while some people sent her direct messages attempting to cast out spirits they believed were within her, and others prayed for her.

She noted that many Muslims embraced her, adding that she does not care about the reactions because it is about what works for her.

She said:
"In my line of work, it is almost forbidden for you to publicly say you are a Muslim. You could be looked down upon for doing that. It is just something that I noticed."

"Islam for me, is not all about outward look. It is what is within. How you treat others. I came out publicly with my religion because I was tired of keeping it a secret. I have been to different churches. I am not saying Christianity is not a good religion. It is not for me to say. I am just saying what works for me, is Islam."

"And I lost some fans for revealing that I am a Muslim. They unfollowed me. Some people even came to my DMs to bit out whatever spirit they thought was within me. Some were praying for me. A lot of Muslims embraced me. But I really don't care about that. It is just for me and what works for me."
