Former Anambra State Governor and presidential aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has paid tribute to the late veteran actor Olu Jacobs, describing him as a representation of the excellence of the Nigerian spirit.

In a post shared on his X handle, Obi expressed sadness over the news of Jacobs' passing, which his family announced on September 16, 2026.

He noted that Jacobs exemplified excellence through his remarkable contributions to the film and creative industry, with a career spanning several decades across both Britain and Nigeria. He stated that Jacobs' passing is a reminder that time on earth is limited, urging everyone to give their best to whatever responsibility they are entrusted with.

He praised the late actor for living a life that demonstrated the power of talent, discipline, professionalism, and dedication to one's craft.

The former governor extended his thoughts and prayers to Jacobs' family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Nigerian creative community, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. He further prayed to God to grant Olu Jacobs and all the faithful departed eternal rest.

He wrote:

The Nigerian Voice recalls that the legendary actor, widely regarded as one of the godfathers of Nollywood, died at the age of 84. His son, Olusoji Jacobs, announced the news on Instagram on Wednesday, stating that the family announced his passing with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought.

The statement described him as a dear husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, referring to him as "The Lion of Lufodo." It confirmed that he lived from July 11, 1942, to September 16, 2026, and urged bloggers and social media influencers to respect the family's privacy during this difficult time.
