"We Stood By 'Ogogo' And Took Responsibility For His Medical Bills" – Senator Yayi

Ogun State governorship candidate Senator Adeola Yayi has shared an emotional account of his condolence visit to the family of late veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, in Ilaro, Ogun State.

In a heartfelt statement on his Instagram page, he reflected on the deep bond he shared with the actor and the support he provided during his health struggles.

Senator Yayi disclosed that he took full responsibility for Ogogo's medical bills throughout his illness, hoping and praying for his recovery. He also revealed that he had planned to appoint the actor as his Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism if he assumed office as Governor of Ogun State.

According to the gubernatorial candidate, Ogogo's daughter, during the visit, expressed the family's gratitude for his unwavering support.

Senator Yayi further prayed for the actor's eternal rest and for strength for his family.

The statement read:
"FAREWELL TO A BROTHER: OUR CONDOLENCE VISIT TO OGOGO'S FAMILY. Today, we paid a deeply emotional condolence visit to the family of our beloved brother and accomplished actor, Chief @ogogotaiwohassan. His passing is particularly painful because throughout his health challenges, we stood by him and took responsibility for his medical bills, believing and praying that he would recover, regain his strength and remain with us for many more years. Sadly, Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom, decided otherwise. We had also looked forward to having him serve as our Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism and a full-time member of our cabinet when, by the grace of God and the mandate of our people, we assume office as Governor of Ogun State.

We believed his experience and passion for our cultural heritage would have contributed immensely to our vision for the sector. During the visit, his daughter, speaking on behalf of the entire family, emotionally expressed their appreciation for our support, kindness and commitment to their father throughout his health challenges. We will miss our brother dearly. We pray that Almighty God grants Chief Taiwo Hassan eternal rest and gives his family, friends, colleagues and admirers the fortitude to bear this painful loss."

The Nigerian Voice reported on September 3 that Ogogo's family had penned an appreciation letter to Senator Yayi, thanking him for his kindness and generosity during the actor's illness.

Ogogo passed away on August 23 at the age of 66 after a battle with cancer.
