Controversial street singer Portable has opened up on his fight with actor Charles Okocha, explaining why he walked out of their boxing rematch on Friday.
The bout, held at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos, ended in disqualification for Portable after he abandoned the fight, handing victory to Okocha.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page, Portable claimed that Okocha bit him on the back and locked his neck tightly during the match. He noted that the fight was a celebrity bout, not a street fight, and insisted that he should not have been subjected to such tactics.
He also alleged that the organisers had promised to take him to London for training but only took Okocha.
He said:
"The reason I stopped fighting was that Charles Okocha bit me. He locked my neck tightly during the boxing match. It's a celebrity fight, not a street fight. They promised to take me to London for training, but they took Charles Okocha."
The Nigerian Voice recalls that the rivalry between Portable and Okocha dates back to
2023, when Portable accused the actor of cheating him out of about N40 million in a business deal.
Portable won their first encounter, but Okocha activated a rematch clause, which culminated in Friday's controversial outcome.
